It compromises of 10 country songs from the band's previous albums, that were never released as singles. The compilation was not a commercial success. ==Background== ''Traditional'' compromises of ten previously released album tracks. The songs "Once More," "Time Between" and "Hard Times" were taken from the band's 1987 self-titled debut album ''The Desert Rose Band'', and "Step on Out" and "Our Songs" were taken from the band's second 1988 album ''Running''. "Missing You" and "Desert Rose" were taken from the band's third 1990 album ''Pages of Life'', "Price I Pay" from the band's 1991 compilation ''A Dozen Roses – Greatest Hits'', and "Undying Love" and "True Love" from the fourth 1991 studio album ''True Love''. "Undying Love" is a duet with Alison Krauss, (a song Hillman would later admit he hated), and "Price I Pay" is a duet with Emmylou Harris.〔 The album's front cover photograph was taken during the same photograph session as used for the ''True Love'' album two years before. ''Traditional'' was released half a year before the band's final studio album ''Life Goes On'', and failed to make an appearance on the US Top Country Albums chart.
